Here we had begun the setting out using the fishnet for the second plan. We used rods to anchor the fishnet boundary for the house plan.

We also made the use of a tape measure to ensure accuracy when measuring. We worked very closely to ensure that we were close to accurate. This activity helped us value the importance of not cutting corners because it all starts from the setting out. 

Here we are using lime chalk to mark the trenches that were suppose to be dug out. We were assigned two site plans and in the image we were completing the second one. It looks like an easy task but its not that easy as it requires steadiness and concetration. The offset from the correct value can be by 3mm because 100% accuracy is almost impossible by hand.

On day 5 before lunch we got to do the DCP test where we used the penetrometer to test the bearing capacity of the ground. We learnt that when the difference between the values is less than 70mm, it means the bearing capacity is low and the soil should be compacted. When the value is 70mm then the bearing capacity is good enough. We too readings in intervals of 5. We played a little game during the test where we got everyone to count in their languages from French to Shona.
